Aside from his voice work on THE SIMPSONS, appearances on NPR, and acting roles as one of the key creative partners in Christopher Guest's improvisational comedy troupe (BEST IN SHOW; A MIGHTY WIND), Harry Shearer has maintained a side career as a musician. SONGS POINTED AND POINTLESS is a collection of topical, satirical songs (no surprise there, given his turn as Derek Smalls in the satirical metal band Spinal Tap), many of which debuted on his public-radio series. Highlights include the Global War on Terror satire, "Waterboardin' USA," and the deadly serious "Make New Orleans Whole," a post-Katrina condemnation of official responses to that disaster.
