When people speak of crossover or fusion, the name of John Klemmer probably isn't mentioned as much as it should be. Along with Eddie Harris, Klemmer was one of the earliest jazz saxophonists to regularly apply amplification and electronics to his horn playing. Also like Harris, Klemmer favored direct, attractive melodies and immediate rhythms. The shimmering and elegant BAREFOOT BALLET was originally issued in 1976 and remains fresh and original decades later.
