Kill Your Darlings
Kill Your Darlings, Irishman David Geraghty's debut solo CD, is somewhat of a departure for the Bell X1 guitarist. Already established as a diverse multi-instrumentalist with his band, here Geraghty further expands his musical vocabulary, switching up the Bellies' post-Radiohead indie rock for sultry jazz tones and dusty Americana. Superficial listening to singles "Ragdoll" and "Fear the Hitcher" suggests similarities to U.S. college radio mainstays Jack Johnson and Dave Matthews, but dig deeper and Kill Your Darlings reveals a deep affection for altered tunings, off-kilter beats, and unusual chord voicings on the part of its author.
