Baïonarena (Live Recording)
Manu Chao's second live album, Baionarena, is a lengthy and frenetic set of his band's performance in Bayonne, France. It features songs from Chao's three solo albums, as well as from his former band, Mano Negra, and a selection of covers in which Chao and his band Radio Bemba Sound System give their all and ask for the audience's all in return. The positives here are that the catchy ska/worldbeat-influenced music is full of cool beats and riffs, and almost impossible not to move to. The downside is that a lot of these beats and riffs and the frequent "Hoyo-Yoyo" chant become very repetitive, if not exhausting.
