Vinz Vonlanthen's 16 improvisations on this European release from Leo are definitely an acquired taste. His technique and ability to distort his tone are impressive yet sometimes tedious and repetitive. A few selections groove a bit but most are sound explorations on which Vonlanthen (who even bows his guitar in some spots) comes up with a wide variety of odd sounds and patterns. To his credit he only used overdubbing on two numbers and one can certainly admire his originality. But as music, this outing is a bit difficult to listen to for long. ~ Scott Yanow
