Violution (Choking on Black Liquid Death)
Vendlus Records has described V:28's Violution as "industrial death metal," but a more accurate description would be "industrial black metal." Although Violution contains death metal elements (including some occasional "cookie monster" growling), black metal is actually a much stronger influence. Black metal elements -- sinister rasp vocals, blastbeats, ominous harmonies -- are quite prominent on this album, and the Norwegian band's other direct or indirect influences range from industrial metal to doom metal to Neurosis-like atmospherics to ambient music to -- believe it or not -- Pink Floyd. Perhaps Violution could be described as a combination of Dark Funeral, Godflesh, Neurosis, and Pink...
