When Rilo Kiley took a hiatus in 2008, guitarist Blake Sennett quit music and focused on film instead. While working on a movie script two years later, he was convinced by Jason Cupp (who'd mixed the Elected's sophomore effort) to agree to an impromptu recording session, which wound up yielding several new songs. Inspired, Sennett returned to music by resurrecting his side project, shuffling its lineup, and recording the Elected's third album, 2011's Bury Me in My Rings.
